Bottles are nasty
Post consumer bottles are among the worst things to try and recycle. Nathan
ran a bottle recycling yard for 7 years for a local company and was the lead
maintenance tech there for a short time.
Bottles smell horrid and attract a lot of vermin. They also contaminated the entire
yard with garbage and caused the staff to spend an increased amount of time in the
restrooms.
The biowaste was the scariest. The used needles and discarded hygiene products
caused the most worry.
Bottles do not meet any of PGM's three core commitments to our customers.
The demand for recycled bottles is huge. The supply of bottles to recycle is huge. Pacific Glass Media has the experience and the room to facilitate a bottle recycling operation. However, to execute this would jeopardize our three core commitments and we are not willing to do that. So that is why we choose to pass on recycling bottles.
